I wanted to get this out to all of you so you can go stock up for the weekend! White Widow was bought at Smokey’s 420 House on September 12th and smoked the same day. They grow this strain in house and have it fairly frequently.
Type: Indica dominant hybrid
Percentages: THC 24.78-4.06%
Packaged: Pre-weighed child proof bottle.
Price: 1 gram – $11.00 before tax
Look: Loose buds that were broken up in the bottle. Not a ton of trichomes visible, but it did have a faint sparkle. Deeper green color than I’m used to seeing for White Widow.
Smell: Little sour and dusty but not overpowering.
Freshness: Little on the dryer side but it burned slow and hot. There was a short reddish hair in the bottle with the bud. That’s a new feature.
Taste: Light with hints of old books and comfy leather chair. Rather pleasant. Reminded me strongly of being deep in the stacks at the college library. The smoke lingers in your mouth and you expect it to be harsh like that saucy aunt you have that everyone fears what might come out of her mouth, but then it turns out she provides some rather profound advice delivered with empathy and compassion. (Other people have aunts like that? No? Just me?)
Overall: You think it starts slow, especially for a 24%, but truly, it never really shows up. It’s a really mild, mostly body high. It loosened up my shoulders nicely but didn’t touch the sore lower back. There’s that really faint haze that tells you you’re high, but it’s not overt and easy to ignore while still being highly functional.
Eyes: You look tired at first, but that could just be that it’s a Monday night and everybody looks that way. As the high settles in there’s some faint redness – but it’s no worse than one looks when standing in a smokey bar. When there were still smokey bars left to stand in.
Munchies: Not really a need. But we had dinner and everything had better than normal texture to it.
Giggles: Bigger laughs for things you were already laughing at, but nothing added to it. The level of brash conversation might be amped up a bit.
Touchy-Feely Level: Flirty. Fun. You’re not really going to get to heavy petting with this strain, even with a really well made cocktail added in. I know. I tried.
Sleepies: You know you’re going to enjoy sleep later, but it can wait. But it’s not going to wait all night.
Public Awareness: Aside from just a touch around the eyes, sure, head out on the town. I still had all my facilities, even after adding a very well made Bramble.
Productivity: Creative tasks, or good discussion. Conversation was really easy and the cheese boards we made for dinner were very pretty, but they took longer than normal. If I was a cross stitcher, this strain could work. Instead, I finally got a handle on Storm’s character in Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance 2. To each their own.
Smokey’s White Widow is a really fun and flirty strain. Not what you’d typically expect from a high percentage Indica and honestly, there are better White Widows out there if that’s what you’re looking for. But this strain is one you can smoke for a few hours and still feel good and functional. It’s perfect for networking events, meet ups, or Rush week. You’re going to be loose, talkative, but still fully capable of watching what comes out of your mouth. Perhaps a little bolder, but still well within professional mixing bounds.
Where I think this pale lady really would shine though, is the 2nd date. That second date where you’ve already gone through the awkwardness of the first date but haven’t yet decided if you’re moving on to the all important third date proposition. You can be a little witty, brash even, while still holding onto enough of your brain to make informed decisions. You may laugh a little louder than normal, but that just adds to the spice of the night. It’s all about the fun with no pressure attached.
That sums up this White Widow perfectly. All fun; no pressure. And while it wasn’t what I expected, I really enjoyed this strain. There are White Widows out there that will take you down. This one will take you out. And buy you a drink.
