If you’d have told me four years ago that I’d be writing this post, I’d have called you crazy. Things change. Thank Cthulhu.
There are perks to leaving the corporate world and becoming your own boss. The lack of drug tests is one of the better ones. The ability to be out and open about marijuana usage without fearing workplace backlash is another.
Compared to some of our readership, I’m really new to cannabis culture. I waited to dive in until it was legal and I was no longer subject to drug tests. But I’m a fast learner. And I’ve found every aspect utterly fascinating. From which strains work best for me to the economic impact of legalization to the medical advances, I’ve spent the last three years voraciously consuming all things marijuana. And now I’m ready to share.
What you’ll see from me on Budding Fort Collins:
Reviews – at the heart of it, this is what Budding is about. We’ll have fun trying new strains and looking at what products are enhancing the experience. I’ll also be providing dispensary reviews and working with Kristin to build tours for Choose Your Own Fort Collins. And just for fun, we’ll bring cannabis into the kitchen occasionally so people can try new things. Additionally, I’ll highlight the growing entrepreneurial community around pot in Northern Colorado. From edibles, to hemp, to locking purses, we’ve got a thriving business community not nearly enough people are talking about.
Newsletter – Budding readers will have the opportunity to receive a newsletter that includes a round up of dispensary and head shop specials, events, and important news. Part of the job is helping you stay connected to what’s going on around town so you can enjoy the community to the fullest.
The Bigger Picture – we’ll be talking about the economics of weed and the impact it’s having on Fort Collins, our state, and ultimately the nation. Whether you’re comfortable with it or not, legalization is here to stay, so what does that mean for us? How do we, as proponents of weed, help remove the stigma and cut through the propaganda? We’re at the front of a sea change and how we approach things will help make the case for tolerance and acceptance.
Blunt Talk for Beginners – while a lot of our readers are experienced tokers, plenty aren’t. And even more are curious but have no idea where to begin. I’ll be providing places to start and advice, as well as interviewing long time users about tips and tricks they’ve developed that make the experience easier and more fun. Weed shouldn’t be scary or hard.
Whew! That’s a lot! But I’m excited to get started. Feel free to reach out to me with thoughts or suggestions anytime, or a if you’ve got a great bowl to share.
