When out-of-state visitors decide to take advantage of Colorado’s legalization laws and stop by a dispensary during their trip, the last thing they would ever expect to happen is to get robbed of their purchase in broad daylight, right after walking out of the store – yet, that’s exactly what occurred on Wednesday, August 3, outside of Choice Organics in Fort Collins.
As a man and woman were walking out from the shop, located at 813 Smithfield Drive, they were approached by a pair of men, just a little before 8 p.m. One of the men claimed he was armed with a weapon and proceeded to rob the couple of the weed they had just purchased. The men then fled eastbound on foot, before jumping in a late-model gray Dodge Charger and driving away from the scene. Neither of the customers were injured during the incident. An employee from Choice Organics called police, who arrived at the scene shortly after, though were unable to locate the suspects at the time. The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 970-416-1986 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868.
Video surveillance footage that’s being used in the investigation shows the two suspects parking the Dodge Charger across the street from the dispensary prior to committing the robbery, and also features a pretty clear image of both wanted men. They are both described as being white, and in their late teens or early 20s. One of the men is about 6 feet tall and was wearing dark-colored baggy shorts and a dark hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery, and he might also have facial hair. The other suspect involved is slightly shorter, and was wearing light-colored baggy shorts, multi-colored short sleeve T-shirt and a hat when the robbery took place.
